The word twitter is defined as a bird making short calls or sounds (as shown in the picture below). For example, when a bird goes “tweet, tweet”! However, humans have redefined the meaning of twitter through creating a social media network called Twitter. Humans can now send out their own short calls through Twitter. On Twitter, people can compose a short message of 140 characters or less and tweet (like a bird) it out for the rest of the world to read. These short messages are a quick and easy way to share what you have to say with the rest of the world. In return, you can follow what other people have to tweet about and find innovative new ideas. Below are a couple of videos and a Prezi to introduce you to the social network known as Twitter and give you some ideas of why it may be useful to educators.
