What is Camtasia?

Camtasia is a video creator that allows you to not only screencast, but record yourself, create presentations, import photos, videos, and documents and most importantly EDIT! Camtasia is NOT FREE, however it offers a free trial if you would like to try it out. If you want to make more professional looking video or more creative videos you can use Camtasia! How can Camtasia be used in the classroom?

– Camtasia is a great tool because it allows you to video edit. If you are planning to flip your classroom you may want to make videos that you can edit. In that case Camtasia is an amazing tool to use.

– Students can use Camtasia to summarize their learning.

-Students can practice video editing.

– Students can use Camtasia to create a more professional video. For example, if the students are making a commercial or sales presentation in a class they may want to use Camtasia.

How do I use Camtasia?

Camtasia takes some playing around before you start to utilize all the great features it has to offer. Because there are so many options it can be overwhelming at first. When I made my first video using Camtasia I watched all of the tutorial videos and then started playing around with different options. After watching the tutorials it took me about an hour to really start to understand how to use Camtasia. It is worth the time it takes to get to know Camtasia. There are so many amazing features.
